Parrot Pandemonium - 2021

Location: 914 North Blvd, Oak Park IL.
Project Description:

This 110 square feet mural titled “Parrot Pandemonium” is installed directly to a free-standing wall that was built to obscure the view of garbage dumpsters at one of Oak Park Apartments’ newly renovated apartment complexes. The six giant parrots perched atop a mirrored branch await the opportunity to surprise and greet onlookers. Their vibrant color palettes, flamboyant postures, and unexpected size is intended to elicit a sense of joy and playfulness after a year that has been extremely difficult.
This installation was created by young public art apprentices under the direction of Carolyn Elaine in the Off the Wall Summer youth employment program.
